1. 'June'
(Neo Plants 91) Medium 15" high by 30" wide, violet flowers.
Leaves are yellow with an irregular blue margin overlapping the
center, resulting in blue and celadon streaking. Can be grown in full
sun or full shade and the result is two very different coloured
hostas. In sun the center of the leaf becomes cream-white. Slug
resistant. Sun tolerant.

2. 'Sagae'
(AHS 87) Giant hosta 36" high by 70" wide. Leaf blade 14"
by 10". Thick, smooth blue-tinted mid-green turning grey-green,
widely and irregularly margined bright yellow turning creamy white
with celadon streaks, widely spaced veins; edge widely undulate, flat
to slightly folded, widely oval with a cuspidate tip. 'A.M.G. Hosta of
the Year 2000'. Has an upright habit and gradually makes a huge
specimen. Sun tolerant. Slug resistant.

3. 'Liberty'
(Machen 00) GIANT (26" high by
63" wide.) When John Machen of Mobjack Nurseries in Virginia
first displayed this plant at the 2000 American Hosta Society
Convention it was without question the hit of the show. 'Liberty' is a
sport of 'Sagae', with thicker leaves and a wider yellow margin that
turns creamy white in summer. In all other respects, the plant appears
to be the same as 'Sagae'. The margin gets wider as the plant matures.
Sun tolerant.

'Aureomarginata' (AHS 87)
GIANT UPRIGHT (30" high by 72"
wide.) Near white flower; Leaf blade 15" by 8". Rich dark
green, widely and irregularly margined golden yellow to creamy white,
with light olive-green transitional streaks, closely spaced veins;
edge slightly undulate, arching. Site in light to moderate shade. It
is still one of the most outstanding eye-catching hostas ever
introduced. Alex J. Summers Distinguished Merit Hosta 1985 (Peter
Ruh). Sun tolerant. |

5. 'Paradigm'
(Walden West NR) LARGE (22" high by
48" wide.) A sport of H. 'Abiqua Recluse' and has gold leaves
w/blue-green margin. The variegation intensifies as the season
progresses and the substance is super. Lavender flowers. Formerly
known as 'Abiqua Paradigm', this 'Abiqua Recluse' sport has beautiful
gold leaves edged in blue-green. Thick, chartreuse-green turning
yellow widely margined dark green jetting to midrib, satiny, intensely
corrugated and puckered; edge slightly rippled, folded to cupped,
heart shaped. Enjoys some morning sun. The variegation pattern
intensifies later in the spring. Hosta of the year 2007. Slug
resistant and sun tolerant. $17.00

| 6. 'Praying
Hands' Medium 18" high by 30" wide. One of the weirdest
introductions to come along: extremely elongated dark green leaves
have a waxy sheen and a very thin yellow rippled border. They are
folded and wavy, giving a twisted appearance and look like no other
hosta leaf. Leaves are folded and rolled tightly in an upward stance.
Slug resistant and sun tolerant. |

7. 'Niagara
Falls' (Brinka/Petryszyn 91) LARGE
(33" high by 60" wide.) Leaf blade 15" by 9".
Thick, dark green, smooth, deeply impressed veins; edge with small,
even ripples, arching, widely oblong to oval. Dark leaves develop a
beautiful sheen; piecrust edge develops with age. Winner of 3 awards
in 1999, "Best Green Leaf". Slug resistant.

8. 'First
Frost' 14" high by 36" wide. A sport of 'Halcyon' with
the same intense blue-green leaf center. Emerges with a gold margin
early in the spring, then changes to pure white later in the season.
The leaves hold up well in the garden all season long until the "first
frost". Light lavender flowers appear on 28 inch scapes in
midsummer.

9. 'El Nino'
(Netherlands) MEDIUM (15" high by
39" wide.) Not many hostas feature pure white margins on blue
leaves, makes a clean and fresh look. This highly sought after new
introduction is an amazing sport of the popular blue Hosta 'Halcyon',
but with a wide white border added for extra effect. Each 3' wide
clump is truly scrumptious! In midsummer, the clumps are topped with
2' spikes of blue-lavender flowers.Sun tolerant.

'Guacamole' (Solberg 94) Large 24" high by 50" wide,
large fragrant near-white flowers. Leaf blade 11" by 8".
Good substance, chartreuse turning old-gold, irregularly margined dark
green with chartreuse streaks jetting toward the midrib, glossy,
prominently veined; edge almost flat, slightly convex, heart shaped.
Site in morning sun and more. Sun tolerant.

11. 'Regal
Splendor' (Walters Gardens 87) Large 32" high by 48"
wide. Leaf blade 11" by 6". Thick, glaucous grey-blue
irregularly margined yellow to creamy white with some streaks, closely
ripped veins; edge rippled, arching, folded, oval with a cuspidate
tip. The plant has a unique vase-shaped form. Sun tolerant. Slug
resistant.

12. 'Sun
Power' (Aden 86) LARGE 28" high
by 70" wide.) Leaf blade 12" by 7". Thick, chartreuse
turning bright golden yellow, prominently veined, slightly dimpled;
edge widely undulate. Pointed bright gold leaves, with distinctive
upright habit. Top of the list of gold hostas, will brighten any
corner. Sun tolerant.

'Striptease' (Thompson 91) Large 20" high by 48" wide,
violet flowers. A dark green leaf margin with a gold to cream center
that is separated with a unique strip of white in the center of each
leaf. This hosta produces many sports. A one of a kind hosta! Sun
tolerant.

14. 'Paul's
Glory' (Hofer/Ruh 87) Large 25" high by 48" wide. Thick,
chartreuse turning golden yellow, irregularly margined dark blue-green
with some streaks, corrugated; edge flat to kinked, slightly folded or
convex, widely oval with cuspidate tip. Center will bleach to
ivory-white if exposed to hot sun. Nice blue margins. Particularly
vivid and dramatic leaf colouring. Sun tolerant. Slug resistant.

15. 'Love
Pat' (Aden 78) LARGE (19" high
by 50" wide.) Near white flower; Thick, rich blue, intensely
corrugated; deeply cupped, nearly round with an abrupt tip. Upwardly
poised, very cupped leaves, so the underside of the leaf is often
visible. Good light to light shade all day. One of the most popular of
all hostas. Sun tolerant. Slug resistant.

16. 'Guardian
Angel' (Thompson) GIANT (28"
high by 58" wide.) Near white flowers. Leaf blade 16" by 10".
Thick, emerging greenish white turning light blue-green and finally
mid-green, widely and irregularly margined dark blue-green, with
streaks jetting toward the midrib, dimpled, prominently veined; edge
conspicuously rippled with a twisted tip, folded, heart shaped.

'Whirlwind' (Kulpa 88) MEDIUM (19"
high by 40" wide.) Thick, pale chartreuse becoming ivory to
bright yellow then fading to drab green late, widely and irregularly
margined dark olive-green with celadon streaking, strongly veined,
slightly dimpled, twisted, recurved at the tip. Some morning sun is
beneficial. Vigorous. Sun tolerant. Slug resistant.

18. 'Sum and
Substance' (Aden 80) Giant hosta 30" high by 80" wide.
Leaf blade 18" by 15" and larger. Thick, light green turning
chartreuse to muted gold, shiny, ribbed veins; edge slightly rippled,
widely oval with a strongly cuspidate tip, slightly cupped or convex.
Morning sun with plenty of moisture. Slug resistant. Sun tolerant.

19. 'Blue
Mouse Ears' (E. & J. Deckert, 2000) Dwarf hosta. Who couldn't
fall in love with a cute little hosta with a name like that? Small
round gray-green leaves are comprised of a substance so thick you have
to feel it to believe it. Lavender flowers on short scapes
proportionate to the clump top it in midsummer. A must-have hosta for
the collector and rock garden enthusiast. Slug resistant.

20. 'Blue
Angel' (Aden 86) GIANT
(32" high by 70-90" wide.)
White flowers; Leaf blade 16" by 12". Thick,
dark blue-grey to dark blue-green, slight dimpling when mature,
prominent, closely ribbed veins; edges rippled, arching, convex. Grow
in few hours of morning sun followed by light shade. Slug resistant.

21. 'Great
Expectations' (Bond/Aden 88) LARGE
(29" high by 58" wide.) Near white flowers. Beautiful large
round puckered leaves with wide, irregular streaking margins of blue
and light green (up to seven different colours); leaf centers begin
gold and changing to cream. Needs morning sun or very open shade to
grow properly. Sun tolerant. Slug resistant.

22. 'Halcyon'
(Smith 88) MEDIUM (18" high by 43"
wide.) Near white flowers; Smooth, intense blue; edge almost flat,
widely oval with a long thin tip. Holds colour well into late summer
in good light to dappled shade. Slug resistant. Sun tolerant.

23. 'Abiqua
Drinking Gourd' (Walden West 87)
LARGE (24"
high by 48" wide.) Near
white flowers on 24" scapes. Leaves are thick, rich dark blue,
deeply cupped and heavily corrugated. In fact, no other hosta boasts
such deeply cupped leaves. Depth of the leaf cupping can be up to 4"
and the powdery gray underside of the leaves is often visible because
of the cupping. Named so, because a dog was seen drinking water from
one of the leaves. Light to full shade. Slug resistant. $17.00

24. 'Touch of
Class' (Hansen/Shady Oaks) MEDIUM
(14" high by 30" wide.) Intense blue leaves with gold flame
in center; a green pattern occurs where the gold and blue overlap;
very thick substance; more upright than 'June'. Tetraploid of Hosta
'June'. Slug resistant.
