Like a giant ‘Blue Mouse Ears’, ‘Silver Bullet’ creates a densely packed clump of very thick, rounded blue leaves. The thick foliage provides great slug resistance. Near white flowers are held just above the foliage. While this technically meets the classification of a medium-sized Hosta, the landscape presence is more in accordance with a small Hosta.

This is definitely a hosta that you can identify without a plant tag! This unique hosta has narrow blue leaves with intensely wavy margins. The leaves are the most blue in spring; as the season progresses the leaves become more blue-green. Pale purple flowers top the plant for a perfect package. H. ‘Mayflower Moon’ was a chance seedling discovered in a bed of miniature hostas in the garden of Carol Brashear and Bill Meyer. It is a robust medium-sized plant with nicely rugose gold leaves.

White-margined hostas are common but blue hostas with creamy white edges are much rarer. This medium-sized seedling of Randy Goodwin has a coolness to its appearance, a slight waviness and nice flowers in summer. It is a front of the bed hosta that should be admired at close range.

Nice gold that’s been around awhile but not much availability.
Wavy leaves are bluish early on and then turn gold displaying a smooth texture and decent substance.

Alex J. Summers Distinguished Merit Award winner 2009. This wonderful plant was named for Mary Schwartzbauer’s (past AHS president) mother. Intensely silver-blue, almost steel gray, leaves are heavily rippled and lightly serrated. The leaf tip twists and curves downward creating a low mound that only reaches about 12″ tall. Pale lavender flowers in midsummer. Good substance and moderate corrugation on a smaller blue that will fit into any size garden.
